A Griz Grobus sequel on the horizon? REFUGIUM, COMING SOON...
15 days ago – Thu, Apr 04, 2024 at 12:13:34 PM

In a little under two weeks, the sequel to GRIZ GROBUS will be arriving here, on kickstarter. This sequel? A book we call REFUGIUM! (drawn and written by myself, with Sergey Nazarov on color as usual!)

REFUGIUM is a full length graphic novel and sequel to 2022's GRIZ GROBUS. Set on the same wild, mountainous planet of Altamira, this tale finds the Scribe, ever hungry for glory and adventure, waking up with a mean hangover on a northbound riverboat. She's in the company of the Trapper, who has been sent to to catch a monster -  an unknown beast who has been stalking the timberlands, there in the shadow of the polar ice sheet...

But interwoven with our adventure is a guidebook to the native life of Altamira, a family heirloom of the Trapper (written and drawn by the great Jordan K Walker)

Not only that, but the book will feature a gallery of alien species, drawn by some of the all-time greats of Speculative biology and sci-fi art, like Alex Ries, Jay Eaton, Ripley Cook, Callum Diggle, Linnea Sterte, and more!

If you'd like to read a bit of "REFUGIUM", I've been serializing it on Webtoon, but more importantly, the pre-launch page for REFUGIUM is now live - sign up to be first in line, here!

And expect the campaign to launch in the next two weeks!

Thanks for your support, and hope to see you with this next book!

THE FINAL DAYS of MIRAMAR (including the return of Linnea Sterte's "Envoy and Warrior")
6 months ago – Mon, Nov 06, 2023 at 09:26:50 AM

Hi all!

I just wanted to let you know that we're in the final three days of the kickstarter for "MIRAMAR", my latest and greatest tale from the universe of Griz Grobus and Habitat. The campaign has gone swimmingly, and we've completely obliterated our stretch goals, so, like GRIZ, MIRAMAR will be printed as an absolutely gorgeous little book! Below - the re-designed covers of Miramar, slimmed down and reformatted to accommodate the sensual new cloth spine:

If you're on the fence, hop on over to webtoons and read some of the story we've posted there by clicking on the page below:

Lastly - we're selling a limited reprint of the comic "THE ENVOY AND THE WARRIOR" (see art below)

- A 20-page, full-color comic drawn by the unparalleled Linnea Sterte  and written by myself, set in the world of Habitat and Griz Grobus,  detailing an exchange between posthuman immortals - and it's going back  to print. I've expanded the amount available to order as an add-on, so  if you'd like to buy up all the materials of the Griz Grobus universe in  one fell swoop -this is your chance!

Thanks again for your support,

Simon Roy

A new tale of the Grobusverse - MIRAMAR!
7 months ago – Tue, Oct 03, 2023 at 10:18:13 AM

I wanted to announce something new and exciting to you all - a new tale of the grobusverse! Called "Miramar", it's a graphic novella written by myself and drawn by Stefan Tosheff, set on an ocean planet and concerning a small village, whose baker has been kidnapped by cannibal pirates - and the priest-bot who endeavours to save her!

sign up to the pre-launch page here!

Not only are we offering another hot little hardcover book, but we've got a particularly fancy gewgaw on offer: a replica CRYSTALLINE NEUROPROCESSOR!

(batteries not included)

Made by the indomitable Kordwar (maker, smith, all round cool dude), it's a very cool resin interpretation of Father Stanley's little artifical brain, seen below:

(pictured above - hot members of the opposite sex, upon seeing your replica neuro-processor)

Stay tuned for more, and thanks for your support!

A new tale of the Grobusverse, on the Horizon...
8 months ago – Fri, Sep 01, 2023 at 12:34:30 PM

I'm currently finalizing all the details, but I wanted to announce a new project on the horizon - a graphic novella called MIRAMAR which I'm making with my friend Stefan Tosheff (with Stefan doing all art duties, and myself simply as lowly scribe and marketer)! It's another tale set in the same universe as Griz Grobus and Habitat - only this time, on the ocean world of MIRAMAR. The people of the island of Bilbao awaken one day to find that PIRATES have kidnapped their baker - and stolen the island's sourdough starter! But their town priest-bot, Father Frank, has a plan...

Here are a few excerpts from the pages Stefan is working hard on, as we speak!

I'll have the pre-launch page up and running next week, with a full project launch later in the month - so be prepared!

Also, I wanted to give a boost to a book that's near and dear to my heart - Will Tempest's HARSH PROSPECT!

I did a piece for the book, seen here:

A pinup for Will's incredible book!

The book is exactly the type of hard sci-fi that comics is usually lacking - a hard-scrabble, failing human colony with an increasingly oppressive corporate government... another colonizing alien life form, trying to gain a foothold on this desolate world... and two lovers, trying to live between all this. It's one hell of a book, and I highly, highly recommend signing up to get a copy through Will's campaign, here.

If you'd like to read some of Will's book first, he's got the whole thing online here, but don't tarry, if any of this piques your interest. There's only a few days left of the campaign, so don't miss it! It's an incredible piece of sci-fi comic storytelling, of the type im a little jealous i didn't write and draw myself (high praise tbh).

Also, if you remember from Griz Grobus itself, Will did two incredible pieces for the pinup gallery -

this guy can friggin draw - but lord can he write, too!

Thanks, and stay tuned!
